BEF RECs are certified by Green-e Energy, which requires companies to provide their customers with this notice of Price, Terms and Conditions of service. From the time you receive this, you have three business days to change your mind about purchasing BEF RECs from Bonneville Environmental Foundation. You may cancel your agreement to purchase BEF RECs from Bonneville Environmental Foundation by calling the customer service number or writing to the billing address listed below. For more information about Green-e Energy, write Green-e Energy, 1012 Torney Ave, 2nd Floor, San Francisco 94129 or log onto www.green-e.org, or call toll-free 1-888-63-GREEN.
Organization: Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF)
Q: Who should I contact for more information?
A: Call BEF toll-free at 855-376-3941, send email to businessstore@b-e-f.org or mail to 240 SW 1st Avenue, Portland, OR 97204.
Q: How do I provide payment?
A: When purchased from the BEF web store, your credit card will be changed as a one-time payment, in twelve monthly payments or four quarterly payments depending on the payment plan you choose upon checkout. If you are purchasing this product to match your electricity use, you will continue to pay your electricity service provider for electricity charges.
Q: How is my REC payment calculated?
A: The price of a REC varies based on volume and location. Each REC is the equivalent of 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity. There is a minimum purchase of 1 REC.
Q: What is this REC product?
A: One REC represents the environmental benefits of 1-megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable electricity generated and delivered to the power grid. By purchasing this product, you alone have the right to all associated claims about the environmental benefits it embodies. This product is to be regarded as a real environmental commodity, not an investment in a future project. However, if you do not need to take title to this product for your own use, BEF can retire the RECs on your behalf, and your payment may be a tax-deductible charitable contribution. The RECs you purchased are sourced from verified projects. Your purchase of this product stimulates market demand for renewable electricity projects, leading to more projects that can help mitigate the effect of climate change.
Q: What fuel sources will be used to generate my RECs?
A: BEF RECs may be sourced from new wind, solar, biomass, geothermal and qualifying hydroelectric facilities. Information on specific sites is available on the BEF web page. For more information see the Green-e Renewable Energy Code of Conduct available at www.green-e.org
Q: Is there a minimum contract length or an early termination fee?
A: No.
Q: What other fees might I be charged?
A: There are no other fees!

BEF Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) is a Renewable Energy Certificate (REC) product and does not contain electricity, which is billed by a separate company. A REC represents the environmental benefits of 1 megawatt hour (MWh) of renewable energy that can be paired with electricity. For more information, see more.
BEF RECs are sold in blocks of 1,000 kWh. In 2021, BEF Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) will be made of the following renewable resources:

1 These figures reflect the renewables that we have contracted to provide. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you before March 31 of next year in the form of a Historic Product Content Label the actual resource mix of the electricity you purchased.
2 New Renewables come from generation facilities that first begin commercial operation within the past 15 years.
For comparison, the current average mix of energy sources supplying the U.S. includes: 38.9% Coal, 27.8% Natural Gas, 19.4% Nuclear, .7% Oil, 6.6% Hydroelectric, 5.7% Renewables, .3% Other gases, .6% Other. (Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, Electric Power Annual, March 2015.)
3 Eligible hydroelectric facilities are defined in the Green-e Energy National Standard (www.green-e.org/getcert_re_stan.shtml) and include facilities certified by the Low Impact Hydropower Institute (LIHI) (www.lowimpacthydro.org) or EcoLogo (www.ecologo.org); and facilities comprised of a turbine in a pipeline or a turbine in an irrigation canal.
The average home in the United States uses 911 kWh per month. [Source: U.S. EIA, 2014]
